Flammable Cladding Update
November 5, 2019
Months ago, Christine was about to lose an ACT sale due to a NSW buyer wanting a guarantee the complex did not have a possible flammable cladding issue. Two years had passed since Grenfell, and nothing seemed to be happening in the private sector. As a result of making some noise with the Attorney-General’s Office, Christine was allowed a meeting with ACTPLA officials. Together with Michael Hopkins of MBA and Adina Cirson of The Property Council of the ACT in attendance, the meeting ensured ACT Government were across the lack of action occurring in the private sector over the last two years, and our requests for something to be formalised in the private sector, as we cannot have a lack of confidence in the Apartment market. Christine was on ABC TV news last night calling for a framework to be established, so that sellers and buyers can be reassured they are not selling or buying a problem.
