Finalist in Canberra Women in Business Awards
October 25, 2019
Canberra Women in Business (CWB) empowers, encourages, and inspires women to celebrate what we have achieved – a bit of a big ask – we, as women, don’t usually pat ourselves on the back. According to CWB, “science shows that women do more work than men but are recognised less. Men don’t nominate women as much as they nominate men – and women nominate men more often than women”. Amazing. The more women that are influencers or (dare I say it) disrupters, there is more space for our future female leaders to emerge. Nominations closed for the Annual Awards a few weeks ago, and I was blown away to be nominated by some lovely souls across multiple categories. Happy dances everywhere – so amazing! CWB has now released the Finalists across all the categories, and I am absolutely speechless, having to sit down awestruck, to see I am a finalist in the Business Woman of 2019 category – alongside so many truly amazing and inspirational women doing amazing things every day. Such an honour and it’s only as a result of my mentors and the incredible Kate Murphy and Michele Dingle believing we could do this new social impact model of a real estate agency, and make a difference. Having another agent the calibre of Gillian Thorn join me and believe in my model has also been stupendous, to say the least. I would like to give a huge shoutout to Frances Crimmins of YWCA for also being a finalist in the Social Impact Award 2019 category for her incredible work on Rentwell and NextDoor, amongst other things. There are still tickets available on the CWB website if you’d like to come and celebrate with us at the National Aboretum on Thursday 7th November. So blessed.
